Colin Parks Killed In Tragic Chain-Reaction Car Crash In North Richland Hills, TX

Yesterday, a tragic chain-reaction car wreck in North Richland Hills killed 18-year-old Colin Parks, a young teenage father-to-be who was about to graduate from Richland High School.  Mr. Parks was taking a construction class at Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning when he was returning to their home campus after class.  Parks, who was driving a white Mitsubishi, was giving a ride to a senior from Birdville High School, Zach Johnson.  The Mitsubishi was at the intersection of Mid Cities and Davis Boulevard around 10:00 a.m, when Lincoln failed to stop and smashed into Parks' car and into a box truck.  The impact of the collision thrust the truck into the intersection where it collided with an 18-wheeler.  Two other vehicles carrying students from Birdville High School were also hit in the chain-reaction crash.

The driver of the Lincoln and a fourth person were taken to local hospitals and Johnson, was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Forth Worth.

This is yet another tragic incident involving a local teenager killed in a car wreck.  Just earlier this month, Eric Trevino a 15-year-old junior at Trimble Tech High School in Fort Worth died in a multiple-vehicle wreck.  That crash also occurred during school hours.  Additionally, just this week, another Trimble Tech student was killed.  In that wreck, Andreas Macias was killed in a car accident on East Loop 820 in Fort Worth.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Colin Parks.  This is an absolute tragedy and one that is tough to understand when high school classmates have to deal with emotional fatalities.  It does not appear that Colin did anything wrong but that he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time when another driver was negligent. Also, my prayers go out to Zach Johnson.  I wish him a speedy recovery and hope his injuries are not serious.
