Dallas and Fort Worth Safe Driving Report

If you spend any time on Interstate 35W, I-30, Loop 820, or Airport Freeway you may disagree with this fact. Fort Worth residents are the safest drivers in North Texas. The Allstate Best Drivers Report ranks cities by a car accident frequency. However, as a region, Dallas-Fort Worth didn't fare very well in the Allstate report. Fort Worth was judged the safest city in the North Texas region, but was no better than the 140th safest city nationwide. Ranked below Fort Worth in the Metroplex were Plano (155th), Grand Prairie (157th), Carrollton (168th), Mesquite (172nd), Dallas (173rd), Arlington (175th), Irving (176 th) and Garland (181). The Allstate Best Drivers Report accounts for 11% of all U.S. policies, so this gives us a realistic snapshot of what’s happening on America’s roadways.

There are many different reasons why one can get in a car accident: texting, eating, putting on makeup, or the most common, driving while intoxicated. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2008 there were almost six million police reported crashes. This led to over 37,000 traffic deaths and 2.4 million injuries. The best advice I can give to you is be a smart and defensive driver because there are unpredictable people on the streets.
