Did you hear about this? A crazy gang of idiot sports bike riders brought Central Expressway in Dallas to a standstill on Memorial Day weekend for several minutes. At first I thought it must have been an organized shut down, but no - it seems these fools took it upon themselves to obstruct the flow of traffic in order to make US 75 their own private playground. As a Dallas personal injury attorney I feel I must condemn this incredibly dangerous and reckless antisocial behavior. These thugs were basically doing stupid stunts on a public highway causing a potentially fatal hazard to other motorists.
The other danger these jackasses have created, of course, is that the public at large are going to think that all motorcyclists are similarly obnoxious and couldn't care less about law and order. Please believe me when I say that could not be further from the truth. Bike riders by and large are a good-natured law abiding bunch. Many of them belong to organizations formed with the intention of giving back to their local communities. 99% of people who ride motorcycles are not thugs. They are normal law abiding citizens. These loud and dangerous bikers are in the minority and they don't care one bit if they give all motorcyclists a bad name. It's not fair.
I've been defending the rights of injured motorcyclists and their families as an auto accident lawyer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for 20 years. Motorcycles have as much right as other vehicles to be on the road. Motorcyclists just want to get where they're going safely, the same as the rest of us. I'm glad that the Dallas Police Department is busy analyzing photographs and video of these sport bikers to identify the individuals involved so that justice can be carried out.
