Distracted Driving: A Global Epidemic

I complain about distracted driving so much on my personal injury blogs, but after seeing a photo essay gizmag.com about the distracted driving habits in the rest of the world, I'm feeling like we may not have it so bad.

Distracted driving isn't just an American problem, it's a global epidemic. Unlike in America, in many European countries and most of Asia, motorcycles and scooters rule the road. But just like in the USA, cell phones are taking all the attention. After more than 20 years of working as a personal injury attorney in Texas, I can tell you that motorcycle accidents usually lead to the most serious of injuries I see.  That's why when looking at these pictures; it was crazy to me that anyone would want to text while driving a scooter!

The author of this article said that while he was in Vietnam, he was told 34 people die every day on Vietnam roads. Looking at the pictures below, I have an idea why.
