Even More Red-Light Cameras Coming to Fort Worth

According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, even more red-light cameras are coming to Fort Worth in the coming weeks. Although the people paying the $75 in traffic fines for running red lights probably aren't happy about an even higher chance of being caught, in the city of Fort Worth's eyes it's a win-win situation and as a persona injury attorney, I have to agree.

Red-light cameras not only bring in the city revenue to the tune of $12 million a year, but they also increase our safety and reduce car accidents. A recent study by the Texas Transportation Institute found that red-light cameras in Fort Worth reduced traffic light accidents at intersections with cameras by 24 percent the first year they were in use and continued to cut the percentage of wrecks for three years after.

Obviously, these cameras have been effective at cutting down car accidents in Fort Worth. For all the red-light camera haters out there here's my advice: yellow means slow down, red means stop and if you receive a ticket for an offense you didn't do, challenge it. Too many of my personal injury clients have been seriously hurt by people speeding through red-lights. Hopefully, more cameras will prevent more car wrecks from happening.

If you were hurt in a car accident when someone sped through a red light, contact the injury lawyers at the Anderson Law Firm in Fort Worth. We help accident victims receive compensation for their injuries and medical bills.
