Glow In The Dark Roads Could Help Reduce Night Wrecks

If you’ve ever driven on a rural stretch of Texas highway (such as I-35W between Burleson and Hillsborough) then you know just how trepiditatious an experience it can be. Oftentimes, rural roads can be entirely devoid of street lights – which can severely limit visibility whilst driving at night. There are many such roads located throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Fortunately, there may be light at the end of the tunnel (excuse the pun); a 500 m (0.3 mile) stretch of highway in the Netherlands has replaced streetlights with glow-in-the-dark road markings, which make it much easier for drivers to be able to see the road ahead as they are driving along after dark.

I think this is a pretty cool solution to a situation which contributes to numerous car wrecks a year. What do you think?
