More Recall Woes For Johnson & Johnson | Fort Worth Attorney Mark A. Anderson

After two high-profile recalls earlier this year, Johnson & Johnson has also recalled more of its products manufactured at a Fort Washington plant. The company recalled nearly 800,000 bottles of junior-strength Motrin caplets, 71,500 packages of Rolaids, and around 4 million packages of Children's Benadryl allergy tablets.

The company reassured consumers that the products were still safe to use and said the recall was to review "insufficiencies in the development of the manufacturing process." McNeil Consumer Healthcare had evaluated Johnson & Johnson's manufacturing procedures at their subsidiary base in Fort Washington and discovered "insufficiencies" in the production of the company's children's medicines.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration shut down the Fort Washington facility after it inspected the factory in April and found numerous production deficiencies. McNeil launched its review thereafter and ordered the recall of 146 million bottles of children's tablets made at the manufacturing plant, which also includes liquid Tylenol, Benadryl, and Motrin.

McNeil recently recalled the Children's grape and cherry flavored Benadryl allergy Fastmelt tablets and the 24 count junior-strength Motrin caplets. The Rolaids website said the recall "was initiated as a precaution following consumer complaints of an uncharacteristic consistency or texture, traced to crystallized sugar in the product." Johnson & Johnson did not yet announce this latest recall.

Dangerous products can cause an estimated 27,000 deaths every year. So, after the Thanksgiving holiday, be careful when you go to get Rolaids. Do research to make sure the package you are buying has not been recalled. Johnson & Johnson has had many recalls this past year, but I am glad that they have stood up to the plate and took action, by making the public aware of these recalls.
