Motorcyclist Veers Into Oncoming Traffic In Fatal Dallas Wreck

DALLAS - Sunday morning a wreck on Milford Church Road near Austell Road left one dead, said police.

Fifty-one year old Robert Hall was driving his motorcycle down Milford Church Road at 9 a.m. on Sunday when he crossed into oncoming traffic while attempting to steer down a bend in the road. Hall collided with an oncoming Toyota. During the wreck, Hall lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown from it. He hit the front of the Toyota, said Cobb police.

Hall was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The other driver named Marietta, 42, was taken to the hospital. The wreck remains under investigation at this time.

According to the Governors Highway Safety Association, there has been a steady increase in the number of motorcycle fatalities in the U.S. between 1995 and 2008. The number of fatal wrecks declined in 2009, but then increased once more in 2010 and 2012.

Often, the weather plays a role in motorcycle fatalities. In years like this one when the weather is unseasonably warm and dry, more people choose to take their bikes out and the chances of wrecks increases.
