National Public Health Week Focuses On Safety At Work And Play

Various organizations around Dallas and Fort Worth are working to highlight personal safety this week in celebration of National Public Health Week. As a personal injury and wrongful death lawyer, I think the event is a great excuse to focus on some easy ways to avoid child injuries, car wrecks, motorcycle collisions and workplace injuries. I've helped many clients deal with the aftermath of such accidents over the past 20 years and I truly believe that many injuries are preventable if we take care to focus on safety beforehand.

At home, for example, there are many potential hazards for young children such as poisonous chemicals, electrical outlets and dangers of burns and scolds. By being aware of such hazards, and taking care to child-proof your home you can drastically reduce the risk that your kid could hurt themselves. Similarly, it is important that you are aware of all safety regulations and best practices in your workplace to avoid any potential on-the-job injuries.

Older children are more likely to hurt themselves while playing sports, so make sure that you remind them to always drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, warm up and warm down before and after physical activities, and be sure to wear protective gear such as helmets and padding if playing high-contact sports such as football.

If you have suffered injuries due to someone else's negligence, it is important that you consult with a personal injury attorney to discuss your personal situation. They will be able to explain your legal rights and help determine whether you are eligible for any compensation. To schedule a free, no obligation consultation with the Anderson Law Firm, call us at Fort Worth 817-294-1900 or Dallas 214-327-8000.
