Reese Witherspoon Hit By Car While Jogging

Reese Witherspoon is going to be fine after getting hit by a car in Santa Monica Wednesday morning. The Academy Award winner was jogging through an unmarked cross walk when an 84-year-old woman failed to stop. Thankfully the car was only going about 20 mph and Reese only suffered minor injuries.

According the Santa Monica authorities, Witherspoon was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment and was released a short time later. The unidentified driver of the vehicle may not have been totally at fault for this pedestrian accident, though. According to polices, a large tree may have obstructed the driver's view of the intersection - although she was still given a citation for failure to failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Reese is very lucky that her battle wounds only include a couple bumps and scrapes. As a pedestrian, you can't ever assume a driver will stop with you, unfortunately, not even in a crosswalk. If you walk or jog on public streets, be a defensive pedestrian.
