Texas Motorcyclist Runs Into 18 Wheeler | Due to Speeding

Speed and impact likely killed a man riding a motorcycle early Friday morning. When most people were sleeping this morning, police received several 911 calls about a red motorcycle speeding eastbound on Highway 183. As officers responded, they got another call about a crash on the highway between Story Road and MacArthur Boulevard. Police arrived to find the motorcycle down and a large field of debris scattered across the road, plus an 18-wheeler pulled over to the shoulder. Investigators determined the motorcyclist had driven directly into the back of the truck, denting the back steel bumper. The truck had been traveling at the speed limit on the road when the collision happened. The motorcycle driver died at the scene. The truck driver was not hurt, and police let him continue on his route. Police closed eastbound 183 until 6 a.m. while they investigated the accident.

Whether a motorcyclist is obeying all the laws or whether they are breaking every law, a motorcycle crash typically does not have good. There were 4,810 deaths and over 88,000 injuries involving motorcycle riders in 2006. This statistic is on a rapid increase due to motorcycles popularity. If you are going to ride a motorcycle, please be very careful.
