Texas Recall Alert: Massive Fisher-Price Recall: Many Toys

Mattel, the American manufacturer of toys, is recalling more than 11 million Fisher-Price products for babies and toddlers in US because they may pose a risk to children’s health. This is a significant blow to the reputation of the company, especially since Christmas holidays are right around the corner. This is the largest recall by Mattel since 2007 when millions of toys were recalled because of concerns about the toxicity of paint used for decoration.
Here's the list of products being recalled in the U.S.:
  • About 7 million Fisher Price Trikes and Tough Trikes toddler tricycles
  • About 950,000 Healthy Care, Easy Clean and Close to Me High Chairs
  • About 100,000 Fisher-Price Little People Wheelies Stand 'n Play Rampway
  • About 2.8 million Baby Playzone Crawl & Cruise Playground, Baby Playzone Crawl & SlideArcade, Baby Gymnastics Play Wall, Ocean Wonders Kick & Crawl Aquarium (C3068 and H8094), 1-2-3 Tetherball, Bat & Score Goal.
People who have called Fisher Price about a defected product have been pretty frustrated with the company. Fisher-Price says they will send out a kit to fix the trike within 8-12 weeks.  I understand that it can be hard to tell a kid not to play with their toy for 8-12 weeks that is a long time. My best advice is for consumers to stop using recalled products immediately. Sometimes it’s best for a parent to re-hear parenting tips such as: small children like to put things in their mouths, so avoid toys that have small pieces that could become a choke hazard, or avoid buying toys outside the age range. Having knowledge about what toys your kid is playing with will give you an understanding if that toy could potentially be dangerous.
