Too Many Distracted Drivers in Grapevine

Last week, I blogged about the increased police presence along the DFW Connector in Grapevine due to the overwhelming number of cars going above the speed limit. This week, there may be more clues to why so many drivers are speeding on the DFW Connector- they're talking on their cell phones!

According a study by the Texas Transportation Institute, one in 8 drivers is talking on a cellphone while driving the lanes of the DFW Connector project through Grapevine, Texas. That's more than twice the level observed in a 2009 regional study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration!

If you've driven the DFW Connector lately, you'll probably understand why I'm so surprised this many people are messing with their cell phones - they highway is completely under construction, with lane closures and changes almost daily.

The combination of road construction and speeding cars will undoubtedly cause some car accidents. But add to that the number of distracted drivers chatting or texting on cell phones and it's only a matter of time before something really terrible happens.

We can prevent car accidents by abiding by the rules of the road. Although using your cell phone while driving isn't against the law in Texas (yet), we all know it's incredibly dangerous, not to mention completely avoidable.

If you or somebody you know has been in a car accident caused by a distracted driver, you may need the legal counsel of a Fort Worth personal injury attorney. To go over your options, call the Anderson Law Firm at 817-294-1900 today to set up your free case consultation.
