Transvaginal Mesh Complications

Transvaginal mesh, a device used to treat a condition known as pelvic organ prolapse in women, has come under serious scrutiny this summer. It's become apparent that these devices cause much more harm than good and are seriously hurting woman all over the country.
In July, the FDA issued a health notification discussing the serious complications associated with the transvaginal placement of surgical mesh in patients and recently, a non-profit advocacy group, Public Citizen, made a public statement urging the FDA to recall all transvaginal mesh devices.
Transvaginal mesh is typically used to correct pelvic organ prolapse. Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the connective tissues around the rectum, uterus and bladder weaken and seep into the vagina. Transvaginal mesh has been used in thousands of patients, but due to lack of testing, was not known to cause such serious damage until now. Common complications from vaginal mesh include painful intercourse, mesh erosion, infections, chronic pain, and additional required surgeries.

All over the country, women are filing suit against the companies that make this harmful product. If you have suffered due to the vaginal mesh used in your organ prolapse surgery, please call the personal injury attorneys at the Anderson Law Firm. We can help you protect your legal rights.
