Turning Electronic Device Off While Driving: A Good Way To Save Money In Fort Worth

Every day I hear of strategies that people are using to save money in a tough economy.  Cutting back on Starbucks, bringing lunch to work or buying off brands are all ways to save some money. Another obvious thought that could save money is not getting in a car accident. In Texas, an increasing epidemic of car accidents is due to distracted driving. If you turn your mobile electronic devices off while driving you are decreasing your chances of getting in a wreck, ultimately saving money.

Automobile accidents cost on average $164.2 billion annually and cost every American an average of $1,052 each year. Even if you have the best insurance, an accident will still cost you some money. Your monthly insurance rate will increase; you will have to pay a deductable and possibly medical bills. Car accidents that can be avoided should be avoided.

Statistics show that in Tarrant County one’s chances of being involved in a car accident while using an electronic device is four times greater than not being distracted.  So it makes sense to not drive while distracted. Not only do electronics make up a large portion of distracted driving, but so does eating food, putting on makeup or anything that takes your eyes off the road. Please just be careful when you get behind the wheel.
