Wisconsin Driver Crashes After Drunk Driving and Playing “Pokémon Go”

A 26-year old man was taken to the hospital after crashing into a tree early Monday morning in the town of Verona, Wisconsin. The vehicle of the driver, who was distracted by the game “Pokémon Go,” caught on fire, but the man escaped the car before any serious injuries could have happened.

It was also reported that the driver was intoxicated while driving, an action that could have resulted in a far greater injury than the one he experienced. In addition to playing the smartphone game and being intoxicated, the driver was driving “left of center” (out of his designated lane) and was not insured.

Accidents involving Pokémon Go while driving have become the focus of the game since its release in the middle of the summer. As more related accidents occur, it has been advised to be alert at all times while driving, including an increase in awareness for distracted drivers.
