Car Accidents

Have you found yourself in an accident? Most of us spend way too much time on the busy roads and sooner or later we get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. The most common type of personal injury claim involves car accidents and as an experienced injury attorney, I have seen and handled just about every type of car accident case. As a result, I have learned some of the things that injured people need to do after the accident. There are many things that really need to be done at the accident scene or very soon after (see my Accident Scene Checklist).

But if you are reading this, you are not at the accident scene anymore. Instead, you are sitting home asking, "What do I do now?" There are two parts to the answer to that question. First, if you are hurt, you need to seek medical attention immediately. That means going to the local emergency room or it might mean going to your primary care doctor if you have one (even though sometimes these family doctors don't want to see car accident victims). Many folks who call me either don't have health insurance or their health insurance doesn't cover motor vehicle accidents. I routinely help these people find a doctor who will treat their injuries so they can get better. These doctors will also agree to delay the bills until the case has settled.

The other part of the answer to the "what do I do now?" question is to call an experienced injury attorney who can give seasoned guidance as to all the many issues which arise after an accident. Here are just a few questions which usually come up in just the first couple of days after an accident:

-How do I start a claim with the other driver's insurance company?
-How do I go about getting my car repaired or replaced?
-Can I get a rental car that is paid for?
-Do I give the other driver's insurance company a recorded statement?
-Who is responsible for my medical bills? Lost wages?

Believe me, this is just the very beginning of the issues, and it doesn't get any easier. That is why it is a good idea to call a Board Certified injury attorney. If you call me, I will give you answers to all of these questions and give you advice as to how things typically go on these types of claims. I will help with getting your property damage resolved, help with arranging your medical care and, most importantly, make sure your claim is maximized and you are fairly compensated.

My Car Accident Resource Center has quick answers to many of your questions. However, nothing is better than a confidential, one-on-one phone call or meeting to discuss your individual situation.
