In general, the higher the total medical expenses, the higher the value of the case.  Were the medical bills paid by your health insurance or are they still outstanding?  There was a terrible law passed in Texas a few years ago called “paid vs. incurred” which limits the amount you can recover for medical bills if they’ve already been paid by your health insurance.  Basically, you will be penalized for having health insurance.
