Situated in Northeast Tarrant County just off of Highway 183 and directly west of the DFW International Airport, Bedford is known as one of the best places to raise a family. The population of Bedford in 2009 was recorded as 48,985 and has been growing at a rate of 3.39 percent since 2000. The city is served by the Hurst Euless Bedford Independent School District.

The 1850's saw the first white settlers enter what is now known as Bedford. Slowly and steadily the settlement grew and saw its first school built in the 1862. The community was officially named Bedford in the 1877, when a post office was also opened in the area. The incorporation of the town of Bedford, which just had 475 people at the time, took place in 1953.

Bedford has many well maintained parks such as the Boys Ranch Park, Central Park and many more. Most of these parks are great for activities like boating and fishing or just walking. For the spiritually inclined, there are a number of churches like the Central Baptist Church, Woodland Heights Baptist Church and various other churches.
