Benbrook is a city in Tarrant County and a suburb of Fort Worth. Benbrook Elementary and Westpark Elementary are the only schools located in Benbrook which forms part of Fort Worth Independent School District. In January 2011, Benbrook Police Department was awarded the honorable status of “Recognized Law Enforcement Agency” from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Best Practices Recognition Program, becoming only the 36th agency in Texas and the first in Tarrant County to do so.

Although it was not incorporated until 1947, Benbrook is one of the oldest communities in Tarrant County. Archeologists estimate the area has been inhabited for over 11,000 years. Prior to the arrival of Anglo settlers, the area was home to roaming members of the Wichita, Caddo, Comanche and Lipan Apache tribes as well as large herds of buffalo.

The city of Benbrook is named after local Justice of the Peace, James M. Benbrook. In 1876, Benbrook appealed to the Texas & Pacific for a station to be placed in the town as the railroad ran west out of Fort Worth. When the station was opened in 1880 it was named in honor of Benbrook and the town later took his name also.

The Methodist Church also has deep roots within Benbrook and as a result the sale of alcohol has been prohibited for much of the town's history. It was not until 1971 that local residents voted to allow the sale of beer only to be sold for consumption off premises.
