Blue Mound is a small town located in North Central Tarrant County, 8 miles North of Fort Worth. The community's origins can be traced back to the 1920s when Scottish immigrant John Kennedy settled in the area first to establish a veterinary laboratory, then later Globe Aircraft Company. As his operation grew, more people moved to the area which was initially named Saginaw Park, but later renamed Blue Mound after a nearby hill. Blue Mound was incorporated in 1957.

Home to approximately 2,300 people, the only school within Blue Mound's limits is Gilliland Elementary School. The town is served by Eagle Mountain-Sagniaw ISD's Gilliland Elementary School and zoned for Highland Middle School and Sagniaw High School, both of which are located in nearby Sagniaw.

Blue Mound is home to over 40 independent businesses including restaurants, shops and other services.
