Defective Product Recall: DePuy ASR XL Acetabular Hip System and DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System

The Dallas-Fort Worth personal injury and medical malpractise lawyers at the Anderson Law Firm are currently accepting clients for a case against Johnson & Johnson related to their malfunctioning DePuy ASR XL Acetabular Hip System and DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System. If you believe you have suffered due to this project, please call 800-354-6275 immediately.

What Is Being Recalled?

This August Johnson & Johnson has issued a recall of the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular Hip System and DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System. These systems first became available in July 2003. Hundred of patients who received a DePuy hip replacement system since July 2003 are now experiencing medical problems.

Why Is The DePuy Hip Replacement System Being Recalled?
According to the DePuy website, more people who received these replacement hip systems experienced pain and symptoms that led to an additional hip surgery. 12% of patients, or 1 in 8, who received the ASR resurfacing device have needed an additional surgery to correct the defective system. 13% of patients, or 1 in 8, who received the total hip replacement have needed a revision surgery.

Is My DePuy Hip Defective?
Have you had a hip replacement with a DePuy ASR XL Acetabular Hip System or DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System? Have you experienced any of the following symptoms?
  • Pain, swelling, and problems walking
  • Loosening of the device, where the implant does not stay in the bone in the correct position
  • Fracture of the bone around the implant
  • Dislocation, where the two parts of the implant that move against each other are no longer aligned, causing popping or clicking
  • Hip replacement failure requiring a corrective surgery

What Recourse Do I Have?

If you think you or a loved one may have received one of these defective hip implant systems, contact Mark A. Anderson immediately. If you have received a recalled DePuy device and are experiencing any of the above symptoms, you do have legal rights.

Hip replacements with proper implants can last as long as 25 years. You should not have to go through another surgery because of a defective implant! If you have received a defective hip you may have already had to undergo a second painful surgery, or you may have to do so in the future. You deserve to be compensated for the additional medical treatment, testing, surgery, and the pain and suffering that you experienced as a result of this defective product. Johnson & Johnson and DePuy have a responsibility to you to fully test their products to ensure you are receiving the safest hip implant possible.
