Everman, TX

The city of Everman is located on the southern edge of Fort Worth near U.S. Highway 820 in southeastern Tarrant County. A settlement originally inhabited by several Native American tribes, Everman didn't really begin to grow until the arrival of the International-Great Northern Railroad in 1902.

In 1905 postal service to the settlement began, and in 1906 Everman established an independent school district. The community was one of three sites selected to serve as a flight training school for the Canadian Royal Flying Corps and the United States Signal Corps, Aviation Section in 1917.

Population soared in the 1970s with the completion of DFW Airport and today, Everman is still a thriving community with more than 6,000 residents.

One of Everman's unique characteristics is actually some of its winged residents. The Everman parrots, also known as Quaker parrots, make their homes on top of the city's electricity poles. The parrots nests are quite large and can be seen in various places around Everman.
