Haltom City is a small community on the outskirts of Fort Worth. It takes approximately five to ten minutes to reach downtown Fort Worth from Haltom City. There were about 40,000 residents in Haltom City in 2010. Most of Haltom City is served by Birdville ISD, and a small portion is served by Fort Worth ISD, as well. Birdville ISD is the largest employer in Haltom City, followed by Sara Lee Corporation.

Haltom City is a relatively young city in the DFW Metroplex, and was incorporated in 1949. It was originally named Birdville, but the name was later changed to Haltom City.
