After most wrecks, the responding police will prepare a document called a Texas Peace Officer's Crash Report. Typically, the report is ready within two to five days.
At my firm, I typically see reports ready to go after two to three days. However, it's not unheard of for accident reports to take up to 10 days to prepare, depending on the department and the circumstances. For example, drunk driving reports often take longer to go public since investigating officers must first decide what charges will be brought against the drunk driver. Similarly, reports are often delayed over the holidays.
I've written a detailed outline on how you can get your Texas Crash Report. You can find that here.
