How to Choose A Personal Injury Attorney

If you are hurt, take advantage of the free consultation that most attorneys, including myself, offer and go have a visit. There are many things to consider, but I think the two most important things are 1) you feel that the attorney is experienced and qualified to handle your injury claim and 2) you feel comfortable with the attorney.

I think it is in an injured person's best interest to seek out an attorney who is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law. This designation is given to attorneys who have been practicing a requisite number of years, who have handled and tried to a jury a certain number of injury cases, who have been evaluated by judges and peers and who have passed a vigorous examination on injury law. Only 2% of attorneys in Texas have this designation. I have been Board Certified since 1999 and continue to handle only injury cases. My years of specialization have allowed me to handle all kinds of injury cases. I have handled many, many car wreck cases and have faced just about every kind of issue there is. This experience allows me to be better able to evaluate the case and advise the client of their options and expectations and also to maximize the recovery for my clients.

As far as comfort with your attorney, I just think it is important that you feel like you are going to get along and like your attorney. You will not deal with the attorney or his staff on a daily basis, but you will have multiple interactions. There has to be mutual respect. I make it a point that I and my staff always treat our clients with the respect that they deserve. After all, our clients are the ones that are hurt and are in need of professional service--we need to provide it.
