Hurst, Texas is known as "A Quality of Life" city. It is located in northeast Tarrant County, about 7 miles northwest of Arlington and 3 miles east of North Richland Hills. Hurst is also conveniently located 10 miles east of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. In 2009, the population of Hurst was recorded to be 36,435.

The city was named after its founder, William Letchworth Hurst. In 1903, Rock Island Railroad was the first to come through settlement, stopping at newly named Hurst's Station. After the incorporation of Hurst as a general law city on September 25, 1952, the population of Hurst increased. The growth was mainly due to the arrival of the Bell Helicopter plant in 1974, which heralded the entry of the Texas helicopter aviation industry into the world.

Hurst offers an array of activities for family fun of all ages. NRH20, named one of America's Top 10 Water Parks by USA Today, is a great way to cool off and enjoy the thrill of water slides on a hot summer day.
