Tricks Played by Insurance Companies Following an Accident

Over the years a lot of injured people have walked through my doors. Some were hurt in a car wreck or perhaps a motorcycle crash, others still have suffered due to someone else's negligence in all sorts of different circumstances. Whatever the situation, they come to me because they need my help to get the compensation they deserve from an insurance company. At the end of the day, that's why we pay for insurance. We all buy it hoping we'll never need it.

Unfortunately, insurance companies have a tendency to be quite sneaky once it's there time to pay out. Time and time again I've had clients tell me that they thought they could deal with the insurance company themselves, only to learn the hard way that the insurance company is going to do everything they can to avoid paying the claim - or at least paying as little as possible and with-holding the money for as long as possible. Generally, the game they play tends to unfold like this:

First, the insurance adjuster assigned to your case will treat you as simply another number. The ways he talks will be all about generalities and it's actually pretty common for personal injury victims to be told that the "usual" recovery time for "their" injuries are 4-6 weeks.

Next, the adjuster will play on your emotions and try to turn the tables by attempting to make you feel like the bad guy for trying to pursue a claim in the first place. They'll tell you that you couldn't really be that hurt because most people in these sort of cases aren't even injured at all.

It just keeps on getting worse after that, I'm afraid... I've known of adjusters who employ downright underhanded tricks - outright challenging the victim's integrity and honesty, and the further along you get in the process the more nasty and insulting they become.

Now, I don't mean to tar all insurance adjusters with the same brush. But it is important you realize the challenges you might come up against if you try to work with the insurance company on your own. I've had enough clients tell me the same story that I know they couldn't possibly be making this stuff up.

I have over 20 years experience in dealing with insurance companies and helping people get their lives back together following all sorts of tragic accidents. If you or a loved one have been in a collision or suffered any physical harm, give me a call or contact me by the webform for a free consultation. Don't try to tame the insurance adjuster by yourself. It's what I do.
