The city of Joshua, TX is part of Johnson County and is home to about 5,000 residents. Joshua is located to the south of Burleson, near Cleburne. The city has a total area of about 6.5 square miles. The original settlers tried to name the town Caddo, but that was already taken. A current resident of the area decided that the town should be named Joshua. The original pronunciation of the town is "Josh u way," and some families who have been there for many generations still pronounce it that way.

Joshua also has a public school system that serves Joshua and many of the other cities surrounding it in the area. The school system has eight public schools.
