Community Snapshot -- Euless

Named after Elisha Adam Euless, a young man from Tennessee who moved to the area with his wife Judy Triggs Euless to build a home and a cotton gin in 1879, the city was finally incorporated in 1953. Today Euless boasts a population of over 52,000 and is located between Fort Worth and Dallas, just a few miles from DFW International Airport and is situated just off of Highway 183 Airport Freeway.

Euless has been recognized by the Tree City USA organization and received a The Sterling Award in October 2001 for its participation in the Tree City USA Growth Award Program for 10 years. As part of the Tree City USA program, Euless is committed to caring for their local community forest, maintaining a forestry professional or city department that is responsible for the care of trees in the community and continuing to advocate the vital role trees play in the community. In celebration of these commitments, Euless hosts an annual, internationally recognized Arbor Day festival the last weekend in April known as Arbor Daze. This festival includes live entertainment, food concessions, arts & crafts booths, forest and lawn & garden demonstrations and the Arbor Daze free tree giveaway.

In addition to Arbor Daze in April, local attractions year round include the Dr Pepper StarsCenter, including general ice skating and hockey and figure skating lessons, the Texas Star Golf Course, voted #1 Municipal Golf Course in DFW by The Dallas Morning News, and Heritage Park. At Heritage Park you will find a variety of recreations, including an outdoor playground, picnic areas and walking trails, as well the historical preservation of the Fuller House (first brick house in Euless and today the City's Museum), the Himes Log Cabin (dating back to the 1850's) and the McCormick Barn (made of lumber from Camp Bowie after WWI).
