The new campaign runs the entire month of October. The school that obtains pledges from the highest percentage of their student body during October will be given a $500 donation from the Anderson Law Firm. The participating schools include: Haltom, North Side, Keller Central, South Hills, Colleyville Heritage, and Richland. The Student Councils at each school are doing the hard work to get the word out and obtain the pledges.
While only one school will be declared an official winner, I believe everyone is a winner who participates—as any attention to this dangerous but growing phenomenon is worth the effort. It only takes a second of looking at your phone while driving to cause a potentially fatal wreck. Haltom High School won the last contest, so it will be interesting to see how the results turn out this year.
