Traffic Tickets and Citations in Tarrant County, Texas

Have you received a traffic ticket in any city in Tarrant County, Texas?

This includes: Fort Worth, Arlington, Haltom City, Benbrook, Keller, North Richland Hills, Grapevine, Southlake, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Grand Prairie...and many more.

You have options when you receive a traffic ticket (or traffic citation or summons).

Obviously, you can plead guilty and suffer the consequences. You will have to pay a fine, you may have POINTS put on your license and you may see your rates increase with your auto insurance company.

The better option is to hire an attorney to help you with the ticket or citation. Often, an experienced traffic ticket attorney can get the ticket reduced or maybe even dismissed. If the case needs to go to trial, an experienced lawyer can present the evidence and cross-examine witnesses.

Point System Explained
In 2003, Texas instigated a point system to go against your driver's license if you receive and are convicted of certain traffic violations. Here is some information about the Point System:
  • Points remain on your license for a period of 3 years
  • You will get 2 points per moving violation conviction in Texas or any other state
  • You will get 3 points if your moving violation resulted in an accident
  • No points will be given if the driver was not going more than 10% over the posted speed limit
  • No points given for your failure to wear a seatbelt
  • If you receive 6 points or more in a 3-year period, you will receive a fine of $100 for the first 6 points and $35 for each additional point
  • If convicted of driving without a valid driver's license, you will have to pay a $100 surcharge each year for a period of 3 years
  • If convicted of driving while your license is suspended (DWLS), your surcharge increases to $250 per year for 3 years
  • The number of points you have may affect how much you have to pay for liability car insurance
