Why You Shouldn’t Try To Handle Your Own Texas Personal Injury Claim

I can't stress enough that insurance companies are in the business of making money. The best way for them to do this is to have a serious injury case handled by the victim without the benefit of an experienced injury attorney representing the claim. These cases are routinely resolved for much less than what the case would've been worth had an attorney been handling the claim or lawsuit on their behalf. If a person is not represented by an attorney, he or she will make many mistakes during the process. As I continue to reiterate in this book, a seasoned attorney can guide your case so that the evidence is presented in the best light. Plus, if your case cannot be resolved prior to litigation, an attorney can take the matter all the way through trial and present your case to a jury. Without legal representation, you might as well be showing up to a gun fight without a gun.

The Insurance Research Institute published a study in 1999 which shows that on average accident victims will receive three and a half times more for their case if they retain a lawyer. I believe it. Most people don't try to replace their car's transmission themselves or try to perform a surgery on their own. They leave that type of work to a professional in that particular field. A serious injury claim is no different. An experienced attorney will be able to recognize the main issues in your case and can present your claim to get the best possible offer. If that offer never happens, then an attorney will try your case to a jury. That is something you can't do on your own.
