Cases We're Working On...

Posted on Feb 20, 2012

We see similarities in all of our cases: someone’s negligence caused our clients to suffer an unnecessary and preventable injury. However, no two cases are exactly alike, and that helps keep our job interesting. Here is a snapshot of what is going on at the Anderson Law Firm:

Trial Result, January 2012: Jury Compensates Our Client for Injuries Sustained in Car Wreck

Fourteen months ago, our client was turning left off of Hulen Street on a protected arrow when a TCU student blew through a red light and slammed into our client’s SUV, causing it to turn over. Our client injured her neck, back and received a permanent scar under her neck as a result of the seat belt burn. In January, a Tarrant County jury awarded our client monetary compensation for her injuries.

Trial Result, February 2012: Jury Sides With Our Client, Awards Compensation

Our client was injured when his vehicle was rear ended as he was stopped at a red light. The other driver claimed his brakes suddenly failed―and he was going 45mph at the time of the collision. The other driver’s insurance company refused to pay our client for all of his medical care―much less any additional money for his lost wages and resulting pain. In early February, a Tarrant County jury sided with our client and fairly compensated him for his injuries and damages.

Budweiser Truck Hydroplanes Across I-20 Causing Severe Injuries

Yes, unbelievably, a beer truck was going way too fast for the wet conditions and crossed over into the oncoming lanes, smashing the car containing our client, a young mother, as she was going home from the doctor with her one year old son. The wreck caused serious injuries to our client, resulting in one surgery so far with more to come. The case is set for trial this summer.

Waiter Trips Steakhouse Patron, Resulting in Fall and Serious Injury

A waiter, against common sense and restaurant protocol, knelt down and stuck his leg out in the aisle. Our elderly client tripped over his leg as she was not expecting the aisle to be blocked in the dimly lit restaurant. The resulting fall caused the need for surgery. We were only recently hired on the eve of the two year Statute of Limitations; so much work remains to be done on the case.

Trucker Falls Asleep at the Wheel, Ramming 16 Cars and Injuring our Client
As we see all the time, commercial truck drivers are often overworked and suffer from sleep deprivation. The results can be tragic. In this instance, our client was minding his own business on I-20 when he was unexpectedly hit from the rear by the sleepy trucker. He suffered permanent injury to his shoulder, which greatly impacts him as he is wheelchair bound and now has difficult operating his own wheelchair. The case is set for trial this summer.
