Cop Car Accidents Shuts Down School in Dallas

Posted on Aug 29, 2011

Some youngsters at Hernandez Elementary School in Dallas got a break from classes today after a car accident knocked out their electricity.  Around 6:30 a.m., a man in a Honda unexpectedly made a u-turn on Maple Avenue near Butler Street, cutting in front of a Dallas Police Department squad car. The officer swerved to miss the car but then smashed into a power pole. Due to the impact, the power pole tipped over and blew a power transformer.

Fortunately, everyone was alright after the wreck, but power was out in several businesses and at Hernandez Elementary School for several hours.

Everyone is can have a wreck - even cops. Last week I blogged about an Arlington car wreck involving a police officer, too. These incidents remind all of us that even the most careful drivers can still get in accidents. We must always be on the lookout and remain defensive drivers 100% of the time.
