Are you ready for this? A 290-pound man in New York is suing the burger chain White Castle because he says their seats aren't built for a person of his size. Last week in Manhattan federal court, Martin Kessman filed a lawsuit against White Castle because he claimed their uncomfortable booths violate the civil rights of fat people. Apparently, Kessmnan has been complaining to the White Castle headquarters for two years, but nothing has been done to accommodate his booth size requests.
There are so many reasons why this is a dumb lawsuit, I don't even know where to begin. You'd think that in the two years Kessman's been complaining he would have attempted to do something on his part (like lose a few pounds) in order fit more comfortably in the booth.
As a personal injury attorney in Fort Worth, I'm well aware of the stereotype many people hold against those in my profession. They think we flood the legal system with thousands of frivolous lawsuits, when really - they couldn't be further from the truth! But when I hear stories in the news like this one, it once again puts the idea in everyone's minds that there are too many frivolous lawsuits out there. This lawsuit is a perfect example of kind of case my law firm or any reputable law firm would never take. At the Anderson Law Firm in Fort Worth, we don't represent sue-happy people.
