Ikea’s North American division agreed to a voluntary recall of almost 200,000 of its “Antilop” high chairs. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada said Ikea agreed to the voluntary recall due to a falling hazard associated with the chair.
The “Antilop” high chair was sold in blue, white or read and retailed for about $20 each from August 2006 to January 2010. The safety concern comes from a restraint buckle that can open unexpectedly and pose a falling hazard for the child. So far, Ikea has received eight reports around the world about buckle and falling issues with the high chair. There were even three incidents of minor child injuries due to the falling hazard.
If you own this high chair, take a good look at it and contact your local Ikea for a free replacement seat restraint. A fall no matter from how high can be extremely dangerous to children.
