North Tarrant Construction Creates High Risk For Auto Accidents

As a Fort Worth car wreck injury attorney, I know that the congested traffic around the metroplex can mean a dangerous commute for many drivers and motorcyclists each day. However, if you drive Loop 820 and Texas 121/138 near North Richland Hills, Hurst and Bedford, your daily drive could be getting a lot worse. The reason for the increased hazard is due to ongoing construction of the North Tarrant Express which has a projected completion date of 2015. So motorists in that area can expect the claustrophobic tension to continue for a long time yet.


A similar problem area in Grapevine has also caused many road users problems in recent months as construction continues for the DFW Connector project. Over the past few months, several major auto accidents have shut down Texas 114/121, but at least there vehicles are able to continue to travel past along the service roads. That's not an option on Loop 820 where a 13 mile stretch of roadway now has concrete barriers in place which both means narrower-than-usual lanes as well as absolutely no way of getting past in the event of a collision. The barriers are expected to remain in place for at least 18 months. Should a crash occur anywhere along this stretch within that time, it would mean devastating delays - not to mention the impossible task of getting ambulances and other emergency responders to the scene of the wreckage. Even a minor fender bender could block the freeway creating the potential for a massive pileup at worst, and hours of backed up traffic at best. If you are able to find an alternative route, it might well be worth making those alternate plans now and for the long term. If you must continue to drive it, then please take all due care and get where you're going safely.
