Quick Thinking Saves DeSoto Baby From Car Accident

Posted on Feb 15, 2012

Several people in a DeSoto house including a local pastor and baby were almost killed Sunday when a drunk driver smashed through their living room. Pastor Eric Johnson and some family and friends where in the house when the car slammed through the wall. As the car flew through the home, it pinned Princess Goodwin and her two-month-old godchild against the wall.

Goodwin’s split-second decision to hold the baby up, over her body literally saved the child’s life and somehow, everyone was able to walk away from the accident with only minor injuries. You can watch the miraculous story on wfaa.com and when you see the images, it will only confirm that something was truly watching over everyone in that house.

The drunk driver responsible for the accident was arrested and charged with public intoxication. It seems like every day someone’s home in DFW is getting ruined by a drugged or intoxicated driver. What will it take for people to realize that drinking and driving doesn’t mix?

It’s normal to be on the lookout for drunk drivers causing car accidents late on a Friday or Saturday night if you’re on the road, but you shouldn’t have to fear being affected by their actions in your own home. Obviously, something bigger than all of us was looking out for these folks in DeSoto and that is a very good thing.
