Not only is Rangers pitcher, Derek Holland coming off a historic 20-6 win against the Twins, but today he held a press conference at the Ballpark in Arlington to launch a public awareness campaign against texting and driving.
The young pitcher teamed up with the City of Arlington Police and Fire Departments to launch this initiative.
"I have become very passionate about getting the word out about the dangers of texting and driving. Hopefully we can send a message to everyone to Keep Your Thumbs on the Wheel," Holland said.
The campaign is geared toward student drivers and Keep Your Thumbs on the Wheel posters will soon plaster the walls of Arlington ISD schools. Holland and Arlington Police Chief, Theron Bowman recorded PSA about the program that will begin airing soon.
