DALLAS - A Texas teenager named Jose Lule has been charged in connection with a fatal wreck that led to the deaths of four women.
The women were driving together when their vehicle was struck by a pickup truck as it attempted to enter an intersection on Saturday. The ladies' car was forced into a pole during the crash and - as a result of both impacts - all four women died on scene.
The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene but was found not far from where the wreck had happened.
Authorities say that they don't suspect Lule was driving drunk. However, hit-and-runs are a serious crime and Lule is now in jail. Hil bail was set at $40,000.
There was a time in Texas history when the law actually encouraged hit-and-runs; back then, the penalty for a hit-and-run was much less than that of one if you stuck around. However, now things are different. Thankfully, our legislators closed the loopholes and made it a felony to flee the scene of an accident (if someone was hurt).
