A toddler remains hospitalized this morning after falling from an upper level at American Airlines Center on Wednesday night.
The 2-year-old girl was watching the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus with her family when she fell over a railing on the 200 level shortly before intermission. She was taken to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. There is no word on her condition.
I will continue to keep this little girl in our thoughts until we read any further updates about her health condition. The main concern beside the obvious potential for broken bones would be a traumatic brain injury. Especially at this young age, a traumatic brain injury can have a profound effect on brain development.
Having been to the American Airlines Center multiple times, I'm not sure how a small toddler could just fall over the railing. From the standpoint of a child injury lawyer, something seems wrong with this situation. I'm beginning to think that maybe the railing wasn't tall enough at that particular spot or that the railing was broken in some way.
Accidents such as this can change a family's life, and a child's life, for forever. I hope she can have a fast and healthy recovery without sustaining any long-term injuries. No child ever deserves an injury that can affect the rest of his or her life.
