AMARILLO, TEXAS – A wreck in Hemphill County left one person dead and hospitalized another.
According to trooper reports, an 18-wheeler was traveling west on Highway 60 last Thursday morning when the truck passed into the wrong lane of traffic. Another pickup traveling east collided with the semi-truck.
Twenty four year old Carlos Grissom was driving the pickup and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Semi-trucks can weigh up to 25 times more than regular cars and trucks. In accidents like these, the impact of the commercial truck on a civilian vehicle often leads to fatal injuries.
The commercial truck driver, Aaron Wiggins, 33, was taken to the hospital. Aaron is expected to survive the crash.
Currently, we do not know what caused Aaron to swerve into the wrong lane of traffic and the wreck is under investigation.
