A car accident that occurred Thursday morning outside of Austin, Texas left one 18-year-old dead and several teenagers from North Texas injured. The accident took place when the driver of a Mazda attempted to pass a slower vehicle on Highway 130. The slower vehicle viewed the Mazda approaching at high speeds and maneuvered out of the way, and the Mazda went off-road into the grass median, flipped multiple times, and came at a stop upside down at a creek.
The three teens that were launched out of the Mazda were not wearing their seatbelts, including the 18-year-old that passed away, Jairo Garcia of Garland. Among those involved in the wreck was the driver of the Mazda, 17-year-old Dezirae Fregoso of Kaufman, 17-year-old Andrew Trevino of Dallas, a 16-year-old girl from Quinlan (her name was not released), and a 16-year-old boy from Garland (his name was not released either).
All but the 16-year-old boy from Garland suffered non-serious injuries; the 16-year-old boy has undergone surgery and is in an intensive care unit as of Thursday.
As a car accident attorney, I know how difficult the aftermath of a wreck like this can be. I wish the victims and their families a speedy recovery.
